Day 1 – Arrival in Tunis: Welcome to Tunisia

Upon arrival at Tunis-Carthage International Airport, you will be welcomed by our local team and transferred to your hotel in Tunis.

Depending on your arrival time, enjoy your first impressions of the Tunisian capital, a fascinating city where modern life meets centuries of history and cultural heritage.

Settle into your accommodation and enjoy time to relax after your journey. Dinner will be served according to the arrangements for your stay.

Day 2 – Tunis, Carthage and Sidi Bou Said

After breakfast, set out to explore the historical and cultural treasures of Tunis.

Begin with a visit to the Medina of Tunis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its narrow streets, traditional souks, historic mosques, and beautiful examples of Islamic architecture. Discover the atmosphere of this historic district and learn about its importance in Tunisia's cultural heritage.

Continue to the Bardo Museum, famous for its outstanding collection of Roman mosaics and archaeological artefacts illustrating the country's ancient civilizations.

Next, travel to Carthage, once one of the most powerful cities of the ancient Mediterranean. Explore the archaeological remains and discover the fascinating Punic and Roman history of this legendary city.

Later, head to Sidi Bou Said, a picturesque clifftop village famous for its whitewashed houses, striking blue doors, charming cafés, and panoramic Mediterranean views. Enjoy free time to wander through its streets, take photographs, and discover local artisan shops.

Return to Tunis in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 – Kairouan, Sufetula and Tozeur

After breakfast, depart for Kairouan, one of Tunisia's most important historical and religious cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Visit the Great Mosque of Kairouan, also known as the Mosque of Uqba Ibn Nafi, admired for its monumental courtyard, distinctive minaret, and remarkable architectural heritage.

Continue to the Aghlabid Basins, an impressive medieval hydraulic system that demonstrates the ingenuity of early water-management techniques. Explore the old Medina of Kairouan, where traditional architecture, local crafts, and historic streets offer a glimpse into the city's enduring cultural traditions.

After your visit, continue toward Sufetula, near modern-day Sbeitla, an important Roman archaeological site in central Tunisia. Discover the remains of ancient temples, public buildings, paved streets, and impressive Roman structures that reveal the significance of this settlement during antiquity.

Enjoy lunch before continuing south toward Tozeur, an oasis town known for its extensive palm groves, traditional brick architecture, and proximity to the Sahara Desert.

Day 4 – Mountain Oases, Chott El Jerid and a Night in the Sahara

After breakfast, leave Tozeur and travel toward the spectacular mountain oases of southwestern Tunisia.

Your first stop is Chebika, a remarkable oasis nestled among rocky mountains. Accompanied by a local guide, explore the old village and enjoy a hike through dramatic rock formations, palm groves, and natural springs. Discover the contrast between the arid mountains and the refreshing greenery surrounding the water.

Continue by 4x4 vehicle to Tamerza, famous for its impressive waterfall and rugged mountain scenery. Enjoy time to admire the landscape and take photographs.

Next, visit the Mides canyons, where deep ravines and striking rock formations create some of the region's most spectacular natural scenery.

After lunch at a local restaurant, continue your journey across Chott El Jerid, Tunisia's famous salt lake. Its immense white salt flats, shimmering mirages, and unusual colours create an unforgettable desert landscape.

Proceed toward the Douz and Sabria area, the gateway to the Sahara, and arrive at your desert camp. Enjoy free time to relax and appreciate the peaceful surroundings. If you wish, you can take an optional camel ride across the dunes at sunset for an additional fee.

As evening approaches, settle into your tent and enjoy a demonstration of traditional sand-baked bread preparation, a fascinating desert cooking technique. Dinner is followed by a Bedouin musical evening around the campfire, offering an authentic taste of Saharan hospitality.

Day 5 – Berber Traditions, Matmata and the Roman Amphitheatre of El Jem

Wake up in the desert and enjoy breakfast at camp before continuing your journey through southern Tunisia.

Begin with a visit to Tamezret, a traditional Berber village known for its hillside setting, distinctive architecture, and cultural heritage. Discover the local way of life and admire the surrounding landscapes.

Continue to Matmata, famous for its troglodyte homes excavated into the earth to provide natural insulation against the region's extreme temperatures. Visit a local Berber family in their traditional underground home and learn about their customs, architecture, and daily life. Experience their hospitality and discover the traditions that have been preserved across generations.

Visit the Sidi Idriss troglodyte hotel, one of Tunisia's most famous Star Wars filming locations. Explore its distinctive underground courtyards and discover the setting used in the films to represent the Lars family homestead on Tatooine.

After your visit, travel north toward El Jem.

Discover the magnificent Roman amphitheatre of El Jem, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world. Admire its monumental architecture, explore the arena and surviving seating levels, and learn about the importance of this ancient city during the Roman period.

Depending on the visit schedule, you may also explore the nearby archaeological museum and its remarkable collection of Roman mosaics.

After lunch, continue toward Tunis. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy dinner before your final night in the capital.
