Your journey starts with a comfortable hotel pick-up, followed by a scenic drive to Kairouan, the first Islamic capital of the Maghreb. Surrounded by ancient sandstone walls, the old town reveals a fascinating medina: a maze of narrow lanes, whitewashed houses with coloured shutters and elegant brick arcades. Visit the Great Mosque of Kairouan, an architectural masterpiece and one of the most important monuments of the Islamic world. Walk among its elegant columns and arches, admire the finely carved stone and discover the vast prayer hall, the arcaded courtyard and the iconic minaret that characterise this historic complex. Continue to the mausoleum of Sidi Sahbi, beautifully decorated and known for its superb ceramics and stucco ornaments. Use your free time to explore the traditional souks before stopping for a local lunch. In the afternoon, go to El Djem to explore its impressive Roman amphitheatre, the third largest ever built by the Roman Empire. Once able to hold up to 35,000 spectators, this monumental structure invites you to imagine the spectacular gladiator fights that once took place within its walls. At the end of the visit, relax on the way back to Hammamet, where you are dropped at your hotel.
